Goal Post

No, it's not about football, this the post where I list my goals for the week. Just my writing goals.

Create a to do list
Not as dumb as it sounds. I needed a way to keep track of these goals. I've looked online for a program that would help me do this, but I hated everything I found. Either too complicated, too expensive or too buggy. So I took some time and made one in excel. That should work on my Mac and the school PCs. We'll see. I've never managed to have a long term relationship with a to do list.
DONE

Jackfic Fic-a-thon:
On the Jackfic list I said that I would write in the fic-a-thon. The fic is based on someone else's plot bunny and is due on the 18th. *Panic**Panic**Panic*
OK... it's not that bad. My problem is the bunny I was given was vague and restrictive at the same time. I have part of it figured out because the actual *plot* part was easy to write. The problem is having our good Colonel motivated to do what I have him doing in the plot.

Actual goals:

--> Establish motivation for Jack. Make it believable. I'm thinking this will need it's own separate post.
--> Write the fic. OK... I need 3/4 of the first draft done by next Friday. The fic is growing annoyingly large and I will have to write fast and cut lots to get it in by deadline.
--> Find a beta. I need someone to beta the thing for me.

BreckenHaven:
--> Finish first draft of scene with Bishop and Prentice. I need to have the scene completed by 12/14.

Word Count Goal
I'm toying with the idea of having a weekly word count goal. I hate word count goals because I rarely make them. But I'm thinking the "Words on paper" thing has worked for me before. I will need to see if I can make it work again.

First, I will need to find a baseline word count that I think I can live with. Heh. Lets say... 10 words a day? 100? Gads. If I think that a chapter/scene/part runs 2000 - 3000 words, I suppose I could do 6000 a week. That leaves me time to obsess on editing.

There. Goal post! Three points!
