Shiny!

I love Firefly. I'm not very active in the fandom, I'll admit. They are more... passionate than I am about the show. Still, I own the DVDs and I'm looking forward to the movie when it comes out. Perhaps I'm just a lurker by nature, though. I just don't work and play well with large fandoms. Or small ones.

My thoughts on New Orleans

I've heard reports that the National Guard are stopping people (even volunteers/Red Cross) from going into New Orleans in order to completely evacuate the city. I know that there has been a lot of discussion on the matter, but it doesn't seem like a bad decision to me. ( Cut in deference to those who'd like to avoid it. )
