Why watching 24 breaks your brain...

Myr and I were watching Bones and one of our favorite characters was diving down a dangerous water-filled shaft with a murderer as the only one who was watching his back...

Myr looks over at me and says: He doesn't die, does he? I mean, he can't die, this isn't 24, right?

Heh. I was thinking the same thing. 24 -- and it's tendancy to kill off major characters at a drop of the hat -- has irrepreably broken our brains. We now fear for any character, no matter how far up in the credits they may be.

Yes, but...

Not knowing if or when a regular buys it is a *good* thing. We both remember shows where regulars couldn't die if they were decapitated, electrocuted and burned to cinders. So the weekly "will they survive" as you watch was very yawn-worthy.

Of course I don't watch "Bones" (can't get Fox as anything but black fuzz w/o cable) so I don't know if they are into that, but I think more shows ought to be.
