Quiz Lemming: Rate My blog

Mingle2 - Online Dating

Why am I NC-17? Because I used wrote "pussy willows" once in my journal. Oh... that's twice now. Is there a rating higher than NC-17?

I'm greatly amused.

the MPAA rating system is a joke when directors and editors cater to them to get a favorable rating so they have a bigger audience.

There needs to be more variety between PG and R

Directors, editors, writers and all other artistic talents always need to choose between audience and vision.

It's just more obvious with the MPAA and the fact that R rated movies earn considerably less per movie than other rating. That is due solely to the R rating limiting the number of viewers that can potentially see the picture. It's also accounting for the non-rated DVDs that are being release. Although they don't do well enough to have tons of them.

At least, unlike this blog thing, the MPAA has real people looking at the movies and attempting to judge the material in context. And I do like the new attempt to define what in the movie earns it the rating it gets, because that allows me to better judge the content of the movies.

I agree with you though, there is a great push to make most movies PG-13 and that leads to softening the line between R and PG-13. The pressure isn't only on the directors and editors, but on the MPAA, too.

Intellectually, it's at least an R. Adult content in the best definition of the term.
