Civic duties...
Dec. 10th, 2003 10:04 pmIn Aug. I was notified that I had been selected to serve on Jury duty. I filled out the little paper and sent it back. Mentioned to the boss that I was chosen and that my "term" was to be sometime Oct - Dec.
It turned out to be Dec.
I was a little surprised that he didn't ask me to beg off. I wasn't going to unless he specifically asked me to. He didn't, although I got the feeling he would have rather that I had. Heh.
Well, so far, it hasn't mattered. I had to call in on Nov 30, but my "number" wasn't chosen so I missed out on the "Possible four day trial". I didn't have to call in again until last night, but the case that was scheduled for today was "settled". Wimps. So, no case today. That was all right, I guess. I didn't have any classes today, so I caught up on a lot of maintenance work.
I have to call again this coming Monday for another "possible four day" trial starting on the 16th. I'm thinkin' that there's a real good chance I will get that one. It's a Tuesday, so they will have to get a sub for me. I think I have prayer that morning. There is a Home and School meeting (like a PTO). Plus I'm going to the ROTK midnight show that day.
Of course, if I go and am not chosen, I can come home and sleep. And if I am chosen I will have a reason to skip the Home and School and still be able to sleep. Although, I will have to show up for jury duty the following day after being at the midnight movie.
Heh. Maybe I shouldn't mention that to them when I'm there.
