Long live the geeks...
Aug. 30th, 2004 08:50 pmI am raising a child who is going to be a geek.
I have started watching Stargate SG1. I've tried not watching it -- because I knew I would like it too much. So... several weeks ago when I was deathly ill Sci Fi was running a six hour day long Stargate marathon. That, as they say, was that.
Now, in our house television is a family thing and it's a good bet that whatever it is I am watching, Myr is watching also. And vice versa.
Which means that I have now hooked my daughter on SG1 as thoroughly as I am hooked. It being Stargate monday we are spending the evening watching the fab four. She's very cute and rather fangirl. But only in the best possible sense of the word.
She just told me: I love Daniel almost as much as I love Jack who I love almost as much as I love Sam who I love almost as much as I love Teal'C who I love almost as much as I love Daniel.
It is a strangely compelling logic. And it's so wonderfully circular. *sigh* So like me, she is.
During that bout of sickness, SciFi also ran a day of Roswell. Which I had no interest in watching at all... except that I had it flipped to SciFi... lost the remote... and was too ill to get up and change the channel when it first came on... and we ended up watching all six episodes shown that day. It was much better than I thought it would be. As I came to find out we got to see the last six episodes of the show, and those episodes actually brought resolution to all the plot lines/holes (that we were aware of, anyway). So now, Myr wants to watch Roswell. Not sure if I'm really thrilled with that... it tends to be filled with a bit too much teenage/sex angst, even if it is handled well.
I need to stop watching new shows. It's all your fault
finabair. I had better resistance to this sort of thing when you kept pushing new shows at me.
Although...
YAY! for Stargate.
YAY! for Roswell.
YAY! for Geeky-daughter.
