One (small) benefit for being unemployed, is that I'm able to catch all the curling action as it is broadcast. It's most fun to watch the curling while working on the website for the Wausau Curling Club.
Yay, for curling.
I know a lot of people don't get curling but I'm glad to see the networks are broadcasting it. Curling is an extremely complex sport based around a very simple idea. It's based equally around the skill of the competitors, the strategy of the teams, and the ability ot the player to 'read' the ice. It can swing five points in an end or sit at zero/zero for most of the game. Stategy almost seems backwards: Hard throws are for defensive playing and soft draws are for agressive playing. The entire game can turn on a bad throw or a bad patch of ice.
I love the game. I really need a curling icon.
