I finished my Samfic and sent it off last night. Yay, me.
And no, the fic doesn't suck. I managed to create a throughline so the pieces of the fic stick together. It is a bit of fluff, but it was going to be a bit of fluff, so I should just live with it. My daughter thought that I worked way to hard on a story that ended way too soon, so I guess I did an OK job.
Thanks to
finabair and
amilyn for beta-ing and putting up with my massively annoying whining.
I've been editing some old stories of mine. I think that will be my fall back writing task: If I can't write I will edit. Hopefully, I will start working on the old fic and it will get finished.
I've also been trolling for fic -- I want Jack Bauer fic or Mac Taylor fic or Seeley Booth fic. I want fic about them. What I don't want: Romance -- ship or slash. I don't want pages and pages of drivel about how much they lourrvvveeee x or y. These are strong, decisive characters. They have lived all of their lives being strong and decisive. They have loved and lost. They are not teenagers in some sappy musical. Yes, they can be in love. I like a little ship as background noise, it adds spice to the show. But in the end, these characters need to stand on their own, not be seen a merely a part of a OTP. There is so much more to a character than the relationship they are in.
Needless to say, I've been coming up empty.
