I've decided that it's not ice that I hate, its the very hard ground I impact upon when I slip on the ice.

I walked with Myr to school today (no job + no car = much walking) and had no problems. This despite the fact that the sidewalks on the East, West and South are all ice and the ones on the North are mostly ice.

Then, once I was home, I decide to haul out the trash. It's warmed up enough to start melting the ice. By this I mean, it melts the top part of the ice and it now is a thin layer of water over the very slick ice.

I was very careful on the hard, easily seen ice. It was evil, wet harmless-looking blacktop that was, in fact, water-over-ice-over-blacktop that got me. I stood for a moment, then BAM!. Not standing.

I'm now very stiff and my hip is very sore, but I'm doing well, considering.

It has to be a Tuesday, right?

Six weeks ago, on a Tuesday, I was walking from my writing group to the curling club and took a header (due to complete darkness and an elevated sidewalk piece). I managed to avoid the sidewalk, but took a hard fall on my arm and on my ribs. It took a full month before my ribs stopped hurting.

This doesn't seem to be as bad, thankfully.

But, as [livejournal.com profile] finabair pointed out, I just can't get the hang of Tuesdays.
