The SWAT team is going to be using our new building to run some training drills. I was told to ignore any shouting/yelling/running. They didn't say anything about shooting, so I assume it won't include that, although that would add to the realism. *grin*

I told them that I would not pay them any mind. I resisted the urge to ask if I could photo/video the action. I know it's training and all, but from here it looks a lot like grown men playing cops and robbers. Actually, it looks really fun.

At least I will have entertainment for the final half-hour of work.

A series of thoughts, not related and much less depressing than the full post I'm working on:

  • Myr's comment during Bones: I want to be Sweets when I grow up. Not a bad choice, really, considering she is planning on going into psychology.

  • Does Fox hate Bones? Why else does it continuously preempt one of its best shows? I find it rude that it won’t be airing an episode on my birthday.

  • I managed to watch Bones only two hours after it aired. I finished watching Monday’s episode of 24 this noon. I have episodes of Criminal Minds, CSI:NY, CSI and Eleventh Hour on my DVR. I am purposely not watching Leverage until the second part airs. Since I watch all of those shows (except 24) with Myr, it becomes very difficult to catch up when I fall behind. I am being a good Mom, though, and not watching without her.

  • We also have a great many NCIS episodes on the DVR. Having first started watching the show in the middle of the later episodes with Ziva, I find that I am having a hard time liking Kate. She is, as Myr pointed out, too “girly” and doesn’t stand up to Tony enough. Myr spends a great deal of time talking back to the TV, explaining how she would deal with Tony.

  • We both adore McGee. Myr has a soft spot for geeks. She loves Reid from Criminal Minds. She also thinks the Abby (NCIS) and Garcia (Criminal Minds) rock.

  • I know my husband loves me. He bought me chocolate covered espresso beans for Valentines Day and he found two six packs of New Glarus Coffee Stout. YAY!

  • I’m hoping that the local theatre does a midnight showing of Watchmen. Of course, I’m not sure any theatre is, so I will have to wait and see.

  • I have, perhaps unfortunately, encouraged my daughter in her geekiness. This may make her life harder then it has to be, but fills me with great joy. We were watching an episode of NCIS and Kate asked what Ducky (played by David McCallum) looked like when he was young. In the pause before Gibbs answered, she went “Illya. Illya. Illya.” When Gibbs finally did say “Illya Kuryakin” she actually squealed in glee!

  • Every morning this week, I have been prepared to be too sick to do to work. Each morning I find enough energy to make calling in seem like cheating. *gah* I only ask that I feel good or feel bad enough to stay home. This in between yuck is evil.

  • Ok. Sleeping now. I fear I will not feel bad enough to stay home tomorrow. I have taken to watching an hour of Millennium before falling asleep. This doesn't bode well for pleasant dreams. Perhaps I should skip that tonight.
