Ok. I'm feeling slightly better about writing today.

In an a fit of sharing, here are two SG-1 drabbles that I've written.

The Chase

Jack kept to the shadows, using all his skills to hide in the meager cover. Darkness helped, as did the cold wind gusting through the woods.

His target paused, looking around, and Jack dove behind the nearest tree, cursing the sounds the quick movement made. He was close; he couldn't afford to spook his quarry now. This could be his last chance. Failure was unthinkable.

The target didn't move and Jack lunged across the remaining distance, hitting his quarry in a dive.

The target struggled, then turned and licked Jack's face.

Jack smiled. Cassie would've killed him for losing her dog.

Living With It

'It's not hard to kill a friend.'

He'd heard that in special ops.

'Someday, you'll have to kill a friend. Because of orders -- necessity -- compassion. Because it'll be the right thing to do. Because it'll be your only choice.'

'Then you'll know: It's not hard to kill a friend.'

Jack hadn't believed it.

Then he'd looked into the face of his friend and pulled the trigger. It'd been right thing to do; it'd been his only choice.

The words came back to haunt him.

'It's not hard to kill a friend. The hard part is living with it.'

And yes, knowing something about SG1 may help.

I've become fond of Drabbles. I still obsess madly about them, but when I only have a 100 words, I can actually force myself to quit obsessing sooner.
