My dad just called and I need to share...
Today my dad was walking through the woods he glances to the north and off in the brush he sees a black bear standing. So he stops to get a better look. The bear is sniffing the air and looking around but Dad is sure that he's the one standing downwind, so he doesn't think the bear smells him. The the bear rears up, sticks his nose in the air and really sniffs. Dad thinks perhaps the wind is circling around and the bear can get a whiff of him, but can't pinpoint his location. So he hollers "HEY!" The bear drops to all fours and stares in his direction. (Keep in mind bears can't see well.) So Dad waves his arms and shouts, "Get out of here, you!" Which the bear promptly does.
Heh.
He says he already jumpy about going fishing up in the Newwood area because of all the bears, now he can't even walk in the woods in back of the house. *grin*
He finally decided he'd always take someone with him. As he said: "You don't have to be faster than the bear, you just have to be faster than the other person you're with." Then he asked if I wanted to go with him next time. Heh.
