I mentioned the Children's play on Monday -- the one that Myria almost didn't make auditions for -- and thought I'd give a report.
The play is put on by the Missoula Children's Theatre and they did "The Frog Prince". Myr was chosen to play one of the main parts: Bertha the Alligator. She walks around most of the time with her nose in a book (type casting!) and helps the Frog Prince find out that "it's not what you are that's important, it's who you are".
They had a small turn out for the play, only 24 kids (usually there are up to 60) but the kids that were there were all wonderful. The cast called for anyone k - 12 but I think there was only one person in high school, three middle schoolers and the rest were under 12.
I can't say enough about the two people touring with the show. They took these kids on Monday and created a wonderful piece of work by Friday night. Not to mention they were incredibly talented young women. Janet Lynn O'Hare starred in the show we watched (playing three parts and helping lead the kids in song. Melanie Camras worked backstage and helped wrangle the kids. She will get to take the lead in next weeks play.
Such talent. They said that the small group was wonderful and all the kids were very open to direction and really got into the play. They also said that Myr did a great job and that she has terrific in-character reactions and wonderful stage presence. Hee. I would have told them that but I may be biased.
Anyhow: It was wonderful and I'm very tired now. I get to see the play again tomorrow. Plus there is a family reunion going on, so there's that. And Wil is running a Redemption Tournament.
Sunday is the Church Picnic and then we are going shopping for a new tent. Busy. Plus I have to do laundry and my washer is DOA.
I think sleep is called for.
