I was surfing through Apple's Quicktime Trailer page -- lots of fun with broadband, let me tell you. I really wanted to see the trailer for Van Hellsing. After I watched it, I checked out some other flics and ran across one for Spartan.

Val Killmer
William H. Macy (as a bad guy, I'm guessing)
Ed O'Neill

Just the cast alone will get me to watch this movie.

The summary makes it out to be fairly basic action/thriller fare:

This is the story of special ops officer Robert Scott (Val Kilmer) and his protégé Curtis (Derek Luke) who are recruited to find the missing daughter of a high-ranking government official. Their mission seems to come to an abrupt conclusion when the media reports the girl's death - but Curtis believes the girl is in fact alive. If she is, there's a dangerous conspiracy at the highest levels.

Still. The view of the cast should be worth the price of admission... It's due out on March 12.

Van Hellsing is out May 7. Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow is out sometime in summer. And Pixars new one: The Incredibles, along with a new short, in Nov.

Cool.

It's a balmy 10 below right now.

Wind light, around 5 mph, that makes the wind chill only around -22.

Visibility is unlimited. Or it would be if it wouldn't be dark out. Visibility is limited to headlight range.

Humidity is a moist 47%. Until you walk inside then it becomes 1% (something the Weather Channel optimistically calls "dry"), which means the air sucks all the water out of you eyes until you feel that you have splintery, wooden eyes much like the comic relief pirate in Pirates of the Caribbean. It also means any time you walk across the floor and pass something metal, sparks arch from you to it, and you can track the path of someone across a dark room by watching the path of lightening they leave.

But my favorite statistic is Dew point: -23. -23 How in the world can dew (or frost) form that far below freezing? Wouldn't it be frozen already?

I know I will be.

Still, it is refreshing and makes you appreciate a warm house.

I know I'm spamming your friends list, but...

At school today the kids were working on a "reading program" and one of them raised her hand and asked: Is partly an adverb?

I said: "Absolutely, and a great one, too!"

It amused me. I'm so very easily amused.

Heh.
