Public Service Announcement

As I was watching the news about the "unbelievable" and "horrible" snowfall that is taking place in the Northeast this morning, I noticed that a large number of the people interviewed stated that they were contemplating moving to a better, snow free local where they would not ever have to deal with snow in March again. And while I'm sure most of them know the information I am about to impart, I thought I would just make sure that it didn't slip their minds:

Wisconsin always gets snow in March. And not just northern Wisconsin, either. So when you are planning on exiting your current place of residence to a new, easier, warmer brain numbingly monotonous place to live, do not consider moving to Wisconsin.

And since most of you who are considering moving appeared to be living in cities, I will point out that, although Madison is rated on several lists as a "top place to live and work" it, too, gets snow in March. It is a well known fact that it often snows heavily in Madison right around the March state basketball playoffs.

Now, perhaps snow doesn't scare you off ('Heck,' you think, 'snow melts') and you live in the city anyhow. Really, other people plow the street and shovel the walks when you live in a city. So, I will also point out that Wisconsin if full of woods. Why should woods scare you, you think. Ah, obviously you have not watched enough movies. Haven't 'The Blair Witch Project', 'Evil Dead', or 'Friday the 13th' taught you anything? The most horrid evil in all the world lurks in the most remote woods because, obviously, that's were all the people are. Despite the fact that you live in the city, someday you will be lured out of the safety of that wonderful city and into the big, scary outdoors.

So -- and I say this only in love and with your best interests in mind -- don't move your wimpy butt to Wisconsin.

Really.

I've been collecting the "free iTunes" caps for a while and have decided to cash some of them in.

Downloaded tonight:

God Must be a Cowboy - Chris LeDoux. It's not as good as Dan Seals' original, but since they didn't have that one, I got Chris instead. It's a great song, I just like Dan Seals' voice better.

Long Black Train - Josh Turner. I just love this song. I love his voice. Deep and gravelly. What more could a girl ask for?

Cowboys like Us - George Strait. A song about bikes and freedom and small joys. I don't think George has ever song a bad song.

Nights in White Satin - The Moody Blues. Another song I love. [livejournal.com profile] rbonke has the whole album, but I'll be happy with just this song.

Follow Me - Uncle Cracker. I'll admit it: I have NO idea why I love this song, but I do. I was surprised to see that I could down load the "explicit" or "clean" version of the song. Since I've only heard it on the radio I assume that I've been singing along to the "clean" version. So that's the one I downloaded. Besides, I would like to be able to play my iTunes when my daughter is around without having to discuss the moral and ethical implications of "explicit" lyrics. And really, I can't imagine what "explicit" lyrics they could add to the song that would improve it in any way.

I have three more caps. I may get "Desperado" or "Hotel California" but I'm thinking I (or my hubby) may have a CD with those on, so I'm going to have to check that out first. I wanted to get "Feed Jake" by The Pirates of the Mississippi, but iTunes didn't have them nor do they have Runaway by Del Shannon (the only version I'm interested in, thank you). And Garth Brooks seems not to be on the playlist either or I would get "Two Pina Colladas".

I hate the fact that when I go looking to buy music I can't for the life of me remember which songs I really wanted to get. But I'm sure I'll find three that I will like...

I love iTunes.
