We picked up Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at the midnight festival last Friday. As usual I am reading it aloud to Myria. It's slow going because there seems to be very little time that we are home together and able to read.

In the end, though, it's worth the wait. Reading aloud makes me read every word and not rush past some parts in order to get to the answers I'm looking for. Reading with Myr means that we can discuss all the little questions and points that pop up in the reading. We get to try and guess all the possible plot twists and character motivations that come along.

It's the very best type of book discussion possible.

FUN.

I love my daughter. She is brilliant and many kinds of wonderful. She comes up the the most logical theories about what is happening in Harry Potter.

More speculation then spoilers, but cut nonetheless )

What I like best about Snape is that he can still fall either way. Everything he has ever done, in any of the books, can be explained in such a way to support that he is working for Dumbledore or for Voldemort.

Still, either way, I think Myr is onto something.

And, please, no spoilers beyond Chapter 9 in the comments please. It's more fun to guess, even if we turn out to be wrong.
