My car died.

I was driving down the road at 55 miles an hour when the transmission decided to die. It took with it some part of the axle, which meant that I was driving along there was two loud clucks accompanied by jerks like my car just ran over slow bumps. I looked at my speedometer and even tho I was still cruisin' down the highway, it said I was going 0 miles an hour. Somehow I don't think it would work as an excuse: "But officer, it said I wasn't going over the speed limit!" Probably best that it took out that axle part too, 'cuz I don't think I would have liked to come to a dead stop from 55 mph, even if we were all buckled in.

Anyhow, we took it in to the garage and left it for them to sort it out. Once we got home my hubby and I talked it over and decided that if it was over $1000 we would have to think about just replacing it rather than fixing it. Not that we could afford a different car right now, but we really can't afford to sink that much into an older car. And that is enough for us to try and juggle right now anyhow.

They called today and the total: $999.94.

Damn.

That is my life.
