Actually, I really like the dark and broody Batman. Not when he goes completely around the bend like "Dark Knight", mind you, but the general "Take no prisoners, give no quarter" Batman.
You know, slightly more intense than your normal superhero, but still retaining a inner core of morality. If I could chose, that would be the type superhero I would become.
Did you ever read the graphic novel "The Killing Joke"? I always liked the difference they made between Batman and The Joker. It wasn't that Batman is more sane than The Joker, it's just that Batman trusts that insanity, and the Joker doesn't.
Ok... maybe that doesn't make sense. But I always liked it.
