I am missing things lately...

I want to chat about fandoms and fanfic and all that. I want to sit with friends and watch an entire series were we obsess about all the things we like.

I want to go to a convention where I can hang with people who understand the things I like.

I want have one conversation about a series that focuses on the lighthearted and funny things.

I would like one person to understand why I like the things I do.

I beginning to hate the fact that I can't find people who enjoy the same shows I enjoy for the same reasons. I'd love to get in a discussion with people about the shows I love, but I can't. Perhaps I'm too narrow minded, but even my love for discussion wears thin when all I talk about are things that I don't really like or actively disagree with.

And, on a totally related note:

I'm not reading anyone's political comments/rants/metaquotes/links. I want to point out that, in addition to the "How can you vote for X, he's the antichirst" comments, most of the generic reasons people list for voting for candidate X, I have also seen applied to candidate Y (i.e.: "That the United States has duty to the world at large and to other nations."). And the less generic reasons quoted are based on philosophies that I just don't agree with or assume that anyone who doesn't agree with them is an idiot. Even if I happen to have the same political leanings as the poster, such arrogant, narrow minded thinking drives me batty.

I do realize that there are intelligent and well thought out essays and comments out there, but I just can't wade through the junk without losing my mind. So, I'll be quieter than usual and will probably miss some of your posts. I apologize if yours are the great comments I'm missing.

I still love you all, I just need to preserve my sanity.

And feel free to ignore me, as I occasionally don't practice what I preach.

So, I'll be quieter than usual

In my case, it's impossible lass. As for politics, I just dropped someone because I couldn't take the constant sniping any more, and she was the second in a month. I'm only surprised I lasted two years. Guess I wasn't being too honest about how I felt; or at least being more patient than I need to be. I'm happy to listen to people's views, but when they start slitting throats mine always gets in the way.

I like the lighthearted stuff! I also like the parts that are supposed to be sad and disturbing but are really very funny with the right re-enactment with handpuppets.
