to have one show, somewhere give me a woman commander that I can actually respect?
Please. I don't need some needy, neurotic babe who only reluctantly does what has to be done and then spends the rest of the episode whining about how terrible it is that she has to do the difficult thing and how oh-how-self-sacrificing it is for her to make the decisions that she had to make.
I don't need some chick in charge who, right after her sorry butt has been saved by some (really cool and absolutely right) military type, whines about how much better it would be if everyone could "just get along". Or worse yet, soothes her own conscience by insisting that it was everyone else who "forced" this evil decision on her, but that she knows, in her heart, that it was wrong. And you know, that makes all the difference. *sniff* So sweet.
How I hate that.
Suck it up and do the job or get out. The whole point of having to do something is that you have no other choice but to do it. Life is full of all sorts of nasty choices like that. And obsessing over things you cannot change... not only is it unhealthy, it's annoying. I mean, really, life-threateningly annoying.
