We picked up Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince at the midnight festival last Friday. As usual I am reading it aloud to Myria. It's slow going because there seems to be very little time that we are home together and able to read.

In the end, though, it's worth the wait. Reading aloud makes me read every word and not rush past some parts in order to get to the answers I'm looking for. Reading with Myr means that we can discuss all the little questions and points that pop up in the reading. We get to try and guess all the possible plot twists and character motivations that come along.

It's the very best type of book discussion possible.

FUN.

I love reading out loud. I'm reading it to Hubby right now, but I had to read the whole book first for several reasons. One is that he has an incredible ammount of insight into plotlines and his speculation would ruin the whole book for me if I didn't already know how it ends.

Some of my earliest memories are of my Daddy reading the Chronicles of Narnia to me. Parents who read to their kids are the best!
