Many months ago, last November to be exact, I submitted a book proposal to Stargate novels. I got a reply saying they got the proposal, and another one (in May) saying that they were starting to send out (rejection) notices. It said: "If you don't receive an email within the next 24 hours, it simply means we haven't read your submission yet (so there's still a chance it could be good news). Please be patient."

I haven't received anything yet. Should I write and inquire? Should I just sit tight and wait? I'm not patient right now. I was flattered at first -- not rejected yet, this is good. Now I'm paranoid. Did they send me a "not what we're looking for" and I just missed it?

I am manic, I know. I've gotten other stuff from them, including announcements about the books they are publishing.

They said "be patient". How much more patient should I be? I used to find the uncertainty cool -- as long as I don't know, there is always the possibility that I still have a chance. Now. Well, now, I'm just want to know.

Are these announcements about SG1 novels? Or other novels from the same folks?

I would recommend emailing [livejournal.com profile] wiliqueen and [livejournal.com profile] lytarules; they both submitted too and you can find out if they've heard anything. I think both of them have their email addresses in their userinfo--and I know Lyta has hers on her web page, which is linked from her LJ.

It is baffling that no one I know has heard back in the negative, though I know that some folks DID get a "no". In fact, I think everyone I did a read-through for has NOT heard.

Well, mine was postmarked one day before the deadline, so I fully expect it to be near the bottom of the reading pile.

They may also be having more trouble than they anticipating with juggling getting completed books to press at the same time as evaluating new submissions. Tie-in contracts sometimes stipulate a timetable for getting books out; if they have one of those, getting completed books to press will wind up taking priority. AFAIK, they're still publishing the ones accepted from the first round of subs.

{{{{ hugs }}}} None of which makes the waiting any easier, of course. But you can at least be sure you haven't missed anything.

And this is even better.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I will see what I can find out. I'm sure (unfortunately) that waiting patiently will be the right answer.

I haven't gotten anything either, nor has anyone else I know who has a proposal in. And you're not the first to reach critical paranoia mass on LJ, either, if that helps any. *wry g*

I'm taking them at their word and assuming they're simply not there yet. And suspecting more than slightly that they could be having problems getting communication back from MGM. Since the Sony buyout, I just have no faith in any kind of licensing going smoothly.

Actually, it does. Not having a job and not being able to write anything else is probably making me more manic. *sigh*

It's good to know that I'm not alone, actually.

Misery loves company and all that. *grin*
