Myr's middle school put on the play "The Wizard of Oz". Myr was the 'orange' in the Rainbow Chorus. The Rainbow Chorus narrated the play and was onstage the entire time and had some of the best lines. They modified the play to add a choir and musical elements. There were no individual singers and the entire cast sang in every song. The local dance instructor helped out, provided costumes and choreographed the people.
It was a terrific production. Made even more so when you realized that it was all done by 11-, 12-, and 13-year-olds. The songs were extremely well done and everyone hit their cues.
They had made some changes that only added to the fun. For example, Dorothy was from Merrill, Wisconsin and the Wizard was a Viking Fan from Minn -- His best line was when he was leaving oz, he said: "It's hard to be a Viking fan her in the land of green and gold." Football jokes always go over good here. *grin*
It was absolutely beautiful. Needless to say, Myr did a great job. I'm hoping to get a DVD/video of it as they taped tonight's show. I also went to the in-school production yesterday and video taped just her, because that was fun.
Tomorrow she is doing the all-night lock in for Church. It's not much of a lock-in, really. First, they are locked in a pool and then they are locked in the bowling alley. Oh... Hardship. Wil and I are going to be there most of the time, just to hang with everyone. So, no sleep for us!
