The word came in Necessary Sacrifices was nominated for an award.

However I have to place it in a catagory and sub-catagory. The catagory is easy: Gen. However I'm not sure what sub-catagory to use. Should I put it in "action-adventure" (because it is) or should I choose "novel" (it's over 50,000 words). I could try "drama" or "hurt/comfort" but I think those would be a stretch...

I don't know!

Why must this be so complicated?

For anyone out there who has read it, do you have any suggestions?

Choose whichever seems as though it'd have the least competition, or at least the fewest entries. If you want an award, you need to play the game. I know that's cynical, but I have over a dozen awards for material that was well worth the praise, but wouldn't have seen the light of day had they been placed against 2000 other entries.

Congrats lass, even being nominated is extraordinary.

I was thinking the same thing. So I'm going for the 'Novel' category. Plus, it is 52k words and people may not read it if I put it in one of the other categories. People may not read it anyhow. Fanfic awards tends to be clique-ish and people tend to go in and vote for their favorite without reading the other nominations. Right now, I'm just hoping that people read it.

Well, okay. I'm hoping to get some votes, too. I'm actually very proud of it. It may be fanfic, but I think it's well written. It was good practice.

Now I just have to practice some more.
