Today Myr had her second performance of "The Frog Prince" and was great, as usual. When the play was over Myr comes over and says that she has some "awesome" news.

It turns out that MTC has a Performing Arts Camp in Missoula, Montana. You have to apply with an audition tape and, if accepted, will spend two weeks at the camp. The tour directors can also nominate individuals they believe have the aptitude for our project and would benefit from the camp experience. Those nominated will receive an application and audition instructions in mid-March and will have a leg up on possible approval.

Myr was nominated.

Which, you know, floors me. It's only a nomination and the camp is restricted to 200 people -- most of which have probably dreamed of and worked towards work in the theatre.

Myr is good and talented. What gets to me the most is that she got this nomination based on her ability to act in character and ad-lib lines and actions during the play. Actual acting which impresses the hell out of me.

She's never been much into singing, taking band instead of choir. Today she decided that she would try to take both band and choir next year so that she can actually sing a bit for the audition tape she will have to send in.

I have no idea if she will be able to make it, or how we will foot the bill if she does. One of the directors suggested trying to do fund-raising through the town to send her if she would be accepted. We will work something out, if that comes to pass.

That’s all very far in the future. Right now, we’re just enjoying the possibilities.
