Actually this qualifies as a week like this.
The play is lots of fun, but more than it's share of work. As a freshman, she is low on the totem pole and is the only one in her friend group/class that is working on makeup. She's having a hard time dealing with the lack of staus that comes with being a freshman. And the lack of respect. Myr is big on respect.
She also has major things due in almost all her classes. She has an accelerated art project that she needs time outside of class to work on. She has auditions for band placement this week. She needs to practice her voice solo for solo ensemble. She is completely sure she can't do either of those things. She has a power point on Machiavelli ("the most boring person in all history") due in History; she's working with a partner but hasn't been in class for two days due to the play. She also missed two classes of English where they talked about theme ("I have no idea what theme is -- we were supposed to take notes"). She hasn't had any Math homework this week and she's sure that's because she missed writing it down.
Did I mention she's fighting a cold? Up. Down. And sick.
I also am fighting a cold. I'm tending to run a fever once a day. Need to sleep, but can't. Need to do something, but can't concentrate enough to do anything.
Whine. Whine. Whine.
I want... I want the fun things to be more fun than work. I want to know that when I tell her "It will be all right" it will be. I want to know that when I tell her "You can handle it" I'm not lying or making it worse.
I want... many impossible things, but I think I'll just get some sleep. If I'm lucky.

I find that this whole "growing up thing" is much harder when I'm watching Myr do it than when I did it myself.
