I am not looking for a new fandom. Please leave my brain.
Thank you.

I never liked Iron Man. I mean I had friends who loved the comics and kept telling me how great it was, but I never liked Tony Stark. They would go on and on about how wonderful it was and how Tony was a great character. I read the books they recommended but I just didn't see it. Tony Stark was drunk, arrogant, petty, self-absorbed and, to my mind, totally devoid of any reason to like him. It probably didn't help that most of those pushing Iron Man were fanboys who geeked out over the armor and how cool playboy Stark was. Tony Stark never seemed like a strong character to me and I like my characters to be strong.
Then I saw the movie. Ah... now why didn't I see that Tony Stark in the comics? He's perfect. Yes he's arrogant and self-absorbed, but he's strong and ethical and driven and passionate. Equally important, the portrayal of how Iron Man came to be was perfect -- Tony Stark didn't change into Iron Man as much as he was given a purpose and Iron Man became the manifestation of that purpose. He has just the right edge of righteous obsession that I love.
And, much to my surprise, there was Pepper Potts. I absolutely love Pepper Potts. Now most of you know that I'm hard on female characters. I just don't relate to them. Pepper, however, is pitch perfect. She is consistently strong, she is wonderfully self-aware, she doesn't hesitate to do what is necessary. She can think on her feet and is strong in the face of fear and danger. It doesn't even bother me that she does it all in heels and designer clothes. She does what has to be done despite the personal cost.
Pepper Potts is made of awesome. She is one of four female characters that I officially adore. She deserves her own post that expounds on that awesomeness.
Thank you.
