The Controversial Survey

1. Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
I’ll start by saying this type of 3rd-grade terrorist-tactics usually make me skip any survey. It’s right up there with “If you don’t forward this to 10 people in the next 10 minutes, baby kittens will DIE!”. To which I usually say, “Bye-bye kitties” as I hit the delete key, however, [livejournal.com profile] imbri6 took the quiz and I thought that I would as well.

2. Would you do meth if it was legal?
*shudder* I know what that crap is made of. Guns are legal now and I wouldn’t put a bullet in my brain and that would be a lot more humane. Meth poisons the body, rots the brain and makes a toxic waste dump out of a family home. You can take one hit and end up spending two weeks in a dark attic mainlining meth and eating bugs. So, no, there’s no way in hell I’d take it.

3. Abortion: for or against it?
I am against abortion. I could go into a lot of reason why, but I can’t get past the fact that it’s a baby – or will be a baby. That said, I don’t believe it should be illegal. I want a world where abortion is legal and no one will ever feel the need to use it.

4. Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
I don’t think that any one president – male or female – will make the world fail. Hell, I don’t even think that any series of presidents – male or female – will make the world fail. (And not only is it pompous, it's obvious.)

5. Do you believe in the death penalty?
I believe that there are people whose actions make them unfit to live. I don’t believe in killing for revenge because that will eat your soul. I don’t believe in it as punishment because dead isn’t any sort of punishment. I see it as removal for people who have proven themselves incapable of living with others – people who kill, torture, rape and abuse for pleasure or power. And, yes, I am aware that most of those crimes do not currently warrant the death penalty.

6. Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
No. For that matter, I don’t think that marijuana should ever be legalized. We have enough social problems with the legal drugs we have, we don’t have to add to them.

7. Are you for or against premarital sex?
Since I’m married this question doesn’t pertain to me. My daughter is 15 and I’m totally against it in her case. But then again, I’d be totally against her getting married and having sex at 15. After she’s an adult, her sex life – like everyone else’s out there – are none of my damn business.

8. Do you believe in God?
Absolutely.

9. Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
I don’t believe that the government makes laws in order to change society, I believe that society changes and then forces the government to change to catch up.

10. Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
Illegal immigration is wrong and harmful for many reasons and to many people. Legal immigration, on the other hand, is all good.

11. A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
My daughter is now 15, so this question doesn’t pertain to me. I would think that circumstances, health and family would all factor into the decision of those who it would pertain to, though.

12. Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
No. The 21-year-old drinking age has greatly reduced the number of alcohol related deaths in the 15 – 17 year old age group.

13. Should the war in Iraq be called off?
No. Politics should never run a war, even if politics is what got us in it. Neither should grief, anger or fear.

14. Assisted suicide is illegal: do you agree?
Yes. I don’t know what the penalties should be, but killing a person – even a mercy killing – shouldn’t be accepted out of hand. There are too many dangers in that. I find it interesting that a society that would be aghast if you shot your dog to put it out of its suffering, is so willing to accept killing a person for the same reason.

15. Do you believe in spanking your children?
Yes. Well, you know, not currently, but there are points in a child’s young life when the severity of their actions need to be impressed upon them by a quick swat on the bottom. But like all disciplines it must never be done out of anger.

16. Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
No. Give me a million dollars and I will prove it.

17. Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
I do not tell people whom I vote for. Privacy of the polls is a fundamental right of the American citizen and I plan on fully exercising that right.

18. Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
Do I think people will judge me based on these answers? Absolutely. Of course people will form judgments about me based on what I write, that is part of the reason I write. Do I fear this? No. I may regret it, I occasionally avoid it, but I don’t fear it.
