partly: (No One Gets Hurt)
For my birthday I bought myself two DVD sets. Now, in my defense, both sets were under $40 and I have been wanting one of the sets for a long, long time. I also had $50 saved from Christmas and I used the slow (but FREE) shipping, so, in actual fact, I only had to spend $17 out of pocket to get them. Plus, I haven't done my once-a-month-buy-a-book-without-worrying-about-it thing in a couple of months, so I did have that.

And, yes, this is my life. This is the amount of stress I put myself through when I buy things for myself. In fact, this is the amount of stress I put myself through when I buy any non-necessity over $15. You should see the wreck I make of myself when it's over $100.

What did I buy?

Burn Notice, Season 1 and Stingray, the complete series.

They are wonderfully compatible, actually. Shows that appeal to my love of the anti-hero. Caper-type shows where the hero helps the little guy and where justice is served. Both shows have that darker edge that I love. Both shows have at their heart people who are ruled by their own code, who believe in right and wrong and who are willing to fight for that belief. Shows that make the statement that one person can make a difference and that good can win. Both shows have satisfying but not always happy endings. Both shows have wonderful characters, both as leads and supporting roles.

Today, in the mail, I received a surprise: money for my birthday! My first thought was to pin it to the cork board (where my Christmas money sat for three months), but I think I will go with the trend (especially since I've already rationalized spending money). Since both Leverage and Burn Notice, Season 2 aren't out for a while, I'm going to go with another show I've been waiting for: Equalizer. Robert McCall would have a great deal in common with Michael Westen and Stingray.

Oh yeah. Becky will be up to her eyes in dangerous men, champions of the little guy, and cool ex-spy/ex-covert ops action!

Did I mention dangerous men? Dangerous, good-looking men? Who all have a really high cool factor who all look really, really good with sexy cars, tailored suits, custom shades and automatic weaponry?

What more could a girl ask for?
