Questions from

1. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? Lots of different things. Mostly, though, I wanted to be a cowboy. Still do, really.
2. When you look back at your life, what can you say "hey, I did that!" to? (like going to a foreign country, bungee jumping, etc) I can't think of one specific thing. Perhaps, I'm just too boring. But I think I'll claim "lived a self-suffient life". I grew up on a farm. I've cut the wood that heated our house during the winter (sometimes when it was 20 below). I've hunted, fished, gathered, trapped, canned and preserved. I've grown my own vegetables and fruits. I've raised rabbits, pigs, cows, chickens, geese, etc. I've eaten entire meals the consisted only of food that I had a hand in raising, butchering and preparing. I still do most those things.
3. What's your favorite holiday and why? Whatever one is coming up next. I love all the holidays, mostly because it's a great excuse to get together with family and friends and have party. And, just so you know, I do consider the Superbowl a holiday, especially since the Packers are playing!
4. Do you believe in ghosts? Yes. (Bet you didn't think I could give a one word answer!)
5. If you could meet any person from history (someone from the 1900s or earlier), who would it be and why? President Theodore Roosevelt. He's my favorite President. He tended to be a maverick in politics, had a very pragmatic view of the world and was an important conservationist. I would love to know what he thought of the world today.

Questions from
talkingtocactus
1: what is your favourite book of all time? Oh. This is hard. I'm going to cheat and claim a children's book: How Fletcher Was Hatched. A book I adored as a child and one that I had to pass on to my daughter.
2: if you could invite 3 people to dinner, alive or dead, who would they be? My grandmother, Lillian Leistikow, my mom and my daughter. I would give anything to have my daughter meet my grandmother. And my mom would have to be there. Yup. That would be the perfect meal.
3: what's your biggest phobia/fear? I tend to get vertigo, so I'm leery of heights, but it's not really a phobia. Right now, to deal with reality, my greatest fear is that my lack of employment and general "made of fail-ness" will keep Myria from going to college.
4: would you rather live in a warm climate or a cold one? A cold one. I hate the heat because there's nothing you can do about it. When it's cold you just put on more clothes. Besides the cold weather keeps you smart. *grin*
5: what do you think is the most overrated thing in the world? Lobster. I don't understand the appeal of it, and I especially don't understand the price that people are willing to pay for it.

Date: 2011-01-30 12:21 pm (UTC)From:i confess i think my family would be the last people i'd invite to dinner but c'est la vie :)
i hope those things don't affect Myria's college :S
i totally agree about cold, i've always said i'd rather be too cold as like you say you can layer up, but there's only so much you can take off if you're too hot! although i do love a hot, dry climate...
how does cold weather keep you smart tho? ;)
ohhhh i love lobster, it's so nice. although i think i probably prefer crab. they're just so... tasty!! although i do think the price is an issue. i guess that supply dictates cost, but i think if someone was having it as an every day thing i'd be a bit :S about it, they should be a treat :)
